Wanted: Teachers Seeking Great PD

Professional development is a fact of life for teachers, and the ASB Workshop is just what the administrator ordered.

If you teach a broadcast or video class, this is definitely the workshop for you. Hundreds of teachers from across the country have joined us since the summer of 2000 to learn from each other, from the staff, and from the unique hands-on experiences this workshop provides.

The dates are set: July 12-17. And registration is open. Dave Davis, JEA Distinguished Adviser, and long-time adviser of HTV Magazine at Hillcrest High School in Springfield, MO, is the workshop director.  He is assisted by Brandon Goodwin of Goodwin Films, plus a number of committed support staffers who do everything they can to make the week special.

We hope you will be part of the 2015 ASB Workshop, where we are building better storytellers one teacher at a time.

Dave Davis

Dave Davis started a Broadcast Journalism class at Hillcrest High School in the fall of 1989. Since then, the school's student-produced show, "HTV Magazine," has become one of the nation's most-honored high school broadcasts.

In an effort to provide valuable, useful, hands-on instruction to broadcast teachers from across the nation, Davis founded ASB Workshop in the summer of 2000. Since then, the week-long workshop has provided training for hundreds of high school and middle school teachers from 47 states, plus Mexico, England, South Korea, and Japan.

In the spring of 2009 he was named the Springfield (MO) Public Schools Teacher of the Year. He lives in Springfield with wife Martha, and has two daughters who live and work in the area.
