ASB Workshop Director, Dave Davis will present three sessions at the upcoming STN Convention in Los Angeles, CA. He will be available to answer any questions you may have about the upcoming summer teacher workshops.

"High School Broadcasters: Let's Do Some Journalism"

Friday March 8th - 8:30-9:30am - San Bernadino

Do you ask tough questions? Are you covering the stories you should be covering? This session will give you ideas about how to do that, and share a few hard-hitting examples. Then pitch your own topics and let's discuss your challenges.

"Make 'Em Laugh, Make 'Em Care"

Friday March 8th - 4:15 - 5:15 p.m. Santa Barbara A

Two sessions in one...a look at some creative, humorous segments produced by high school students, and a look at some heart-tugging stories that find those special “moments” that have a strong, sometimes lasting impact viewers.

"Building a Program, Building Support"

Saturday, March 9th - 9 -10 a.m.  Santa Anita A

“My administrator does not support my program.”  “Our show is not making an impact.”  “I need some new strategies.”  This teacher-centered session will offer some proven approaches, some new ideas, and help re-charge your batteries.  Veteran teachers and new ones are welcome as we roll up our sleeves and look for solutions together.

Dave Davis

Dave Davis started a Broadcast Journalism class at Hillcrest High School in the fall of 1989. Since then, the school's student-produced show, "HTV Magazine," has become one of the nation's most-honored high school broadcasts.

In an effort to provide valuable, useful, hands-on instruction to broadcast teachers from across the nation, Davis founded ASB Workshop in the summer of 2000. Since then, the week-long workshop has provided training for hundreds of high school and middle school teachers from 47 states, plus Mexico, England, South Korea, and Japan.

In the spring of 2009 he was named the Springfield (MO) Public Schools Teacher of the Year. He lives in Springfield with wife Martha, and has two daughters who live and work in the area.
